MODERN HUMANISTIC VIEW OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Physical education programs today, just like modern educational programs, reflect a more humanistic philosophy. Just like traditional education programs, the physical education programs of yesteryear were very teacher-centered and formal in nature. If you were to ask your parents or grandparents about their physical education experiences, they would be markedly different from those that occur today. It would be likely that they would report that their physical education programs emphasized physical fitness attained through formal exercises and calisthenics, focused on a few activities, and oftentimes included marching and other drills.
Students moved around in formal lines and were required to strictly follow a large number of rules.
Today our programs reflect a more humanistic approach. Curriculums are more student-centered. Programs are more individualized as teachers realize that one type of physical education program is not suited to all individuals. The feelings, needs, ambitions, goals, capabilities, and limitations of individuals should be considered in designing programs. Teachers, while stressing the need to learn skills and acquire an acceptable level of fitness, also realize the importance of educating students as to the “whys” of the activities. Curriculums in the early years emphasize creativity and exploration while building a skills foundation for later years. Students in the upper grades are exposed to a variety of team and individual sports.
Programs of instruction outside of the school also reflect the humanistic approach. For example, corporate fitness programs are primarily designed to meet the needs of the individual participants: in a sense they are “student” or individual-centered. In addition to improving the physical fitness and skills of the individual, a great deal of emphasis is based on education. Individuals receive information and guidance from exercise leaders and program directors so that they can make wise choices regarding their life-style.
There are various ways for modern people to enjoy sports. Some do it through club activities at work, while others participate in sports activities through sports activities organized by administrative agencies. Some individuals do not belong to any group and engage in mountaineering or leisure activities on their own. Regular sports activities broaden the scope of interest and knowledge about sports, and naturally, they become interested not only in direct participation but also in watching global sports. Meanwhile, the development of IT technology has brought about great changes in the viewer environment for sports broadcasts. The development of Internet infrastructure has led to an explosive increase in mobile viewers, and as a result, the number of companies specializing in sports broadcasts is also increasing. Sonokong TV is a company that specializes in streaming sports games, and it has secured many customers through high-definition quality and real-time broadcasting services, and it is receiving good responses from many customers by sharing important game analysis information from a group of sports experts for free.
